Event summary:
To achieve the priorities set out in the ECM agenda, organisations providing services to children are working together and sharing information to continue to drive improvements in service design and delivery. This conference will provide an opportunity to share real examples of best practice in integrated working and to consider how service delivery is being continually improved via a number of case study presentations from across the country. In the current challenging climate, this event will provide a timely opportunity to share good practice, celebrate achievements in Children's Services and learn from peers through a series practical case studies and networking sessions.

Commissioning with Attitude
Malcolm Newsam, Director of Children's Services, Bedfordshire County Council
Bedfordshire County Council has won three national awards for its integrated commissioning of Children's Services. This presentation will explain how strong commissioning can turnaround performance. Understand the four simple rules which characterise Commissioning with Attitude:

These four rules transformed a failing service into one that delivered outstanding results within three years in Bedfordshire.
Implementing IISaM Programme at Barnardo’s: An Update
Pat Ellison, Business Change Manager, Barnardo's
Barnardo’s is one of the Early Adopter of ContactPoint alongside the group of Local Authorities in the North West, and with KIDS, in November 2008. Pat takes a lead within Barnardo’s for the process and business changes, alongside technical colleagues who have responsibility for modifying systems to meet the external requirements. She is also responsible for liaison with local authority staff in terms of consistent process and clear messages to staff, as well as regarding policy about the broader policy issues related to information sharing and information governance. In the presentation Pat will outline Barnardo’s terms of engagement with ContactPoint and the wider IISaM programme, giving a flavour of the benefits, issues and risks for a large voluntary organisation with presence in all four nations of the UK.

Case study: Providing an successful multi-disciplinary service in Bury

‘Holding Families’ is a multi-disciplinary service that aims to help children, parents and families with problems associated with significant parental substance misuse. It offers an intensive treatment service for families where substance misuse is a problem, where children and adults needs are dealt with and responded to at the same time. Following a successful pilot, we have received funding from the prevention and partnership fund to continue with the Holding Families Service for 3 years. The project is delivered through successful integrated and multi agency working between a number of both adult and children/s services across the Borough. This presentation will include:
